Swedish Massage at the Creative Health Centre, Brierley Hill, Stourbridge

What is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage has been described as “the manipulation of the soft tissue for therapeutic purposes”.

The name can be attributed to the Swedish professor Per Henrik Ling who established a scientific system of massage and exercise based on physiology.

How does it work?

Our lifestyle can often contribute to the aches and pains we experience. Demanding jobs that require long periods of sitting or standing can cause us to adopt poor postural positions, where restriction, tensions and toxins can develop.

Massage is an aid to circulation, which can help to improve the flexibility of joints, increasing their range of motion. Muscle tone is often improved as a result of massage, as the waste products present in the muscles are eliminated.

Increased circulation also delivers an increased oxygen supply to the cells of the body; this can speed up metabolism and lead to healthier cell function.
