“ Everyone
can find hidden strengths which they can use to defuse pain
and boost confidence”
What
is Counselling?
Counselling
is a form of support given to someone to help them find their
own inner strength. It consists initially of listening and helping
people see what they are feeling.
Everyone has a tremendous reservoir of inner strength but may
have difficulty tapping into this reservoir particularly at times
of difficulty in their lives. Counselling helps a person to examine
their problem in an environment where they feel supported and
this enables them to explore their difficulties and the feelings
surrounding them.
Counselling is confidential and does not judge the person or
the problem - it follows the philosophy that people just wish
to feel differently about a problem or issue or wish to do their
best but can find it difficult to know what to do and how to
achieve the results they want. Counselling just aims to help
and be supportive in achieving the goal.

How does Counselling work?
Having explored the background to the problem a client may wish
to look for solutions or possible ways forward; the counsellor
will help the client consider solutions and choose those they
are comfortable with. The person may also develop a plan for
achieving any changes that they may wish to see. A counsellor
can work with a client in developing ways forward that the client
feels are acceptable for them.
We
use a 'person-centred' approach to counselling, which
follows the client's wishes and does not consider matters
that the client does not wish to cover. The client’s
feelings are considered at every stage in the counselling.
Length and cost of a Counselling session?
Each counselling session
will last about 1 hour and costs £40.
The length of time that counselling may take depends on the
particular person and the type of problem. An initial discussion
with a counsellor may give an indication of the possible length
of counselling that may be valuable.
All consultations are completely impartial and confidential.
