Sports Massage

What is Sports Massage?

Remedial sports massage is a deep and vigorous treatment. The treatment incorporates deep massage techniques and stretches to improve muscle tone and aid recovery from injury, exercise or repetitive training. Sports massage can improve the risk on injury and enhance sport preformance.

How does it work?

When you play sport or part take in any physical activity your muscle fibres undergo stress, this can cause tears. Sports massage stimulates the circulation in the muscles which aids recovery. The loosening of muscle fibres during massage encourages lymphatic drainage, this removes toxins and lactic acid in the muscles.

What is it used for?

Preparing for an event – having sessions leading up to an event or competition can enhance sport performance, and helps prevent injury.

Recovery from an event – sports massage promotes recovery after sports or any physical activity. The lymphatic drainage encourages the release of waste products.

Maintaining performance – regular sessions can help keep a keen sportsperson in healthy performance. The techniques used can release muscle tension and imbalances that can lead to stresses on tendons, ligaments, and joints.

Do I have to be an athlete to benefit from Sports massage?
