Hot Stone Therapy

What is Hot Stone Therapy?

Stone therapy massage is a luxurious and deeply relaxing and warming treatment. It incorporates the use of hot and cold stones within the massage that allows for a deeper and more therapeutic massage treatment. A holistic facial treatment may also be incorporated into the massage routine.

How does Hot Stone Therapy Work?

The hot stones are made of natural basalt that contain energy. Cold stones are marine stones and are able to maintain a cool temperature. The Basalt stones are heated in water in a specialised stone heater and at the start of the treatment hot stones within towels are placed on various points of the body and the heat penetrates through the body. The stones are also used as a massage tool therefore intensifying the benefits of the massage. Hot and cold stones used together have a stimulating effect on the body and promote a natural healing process. The stones also absorb positive and negative energies therefore offering a truly holistic treatment for the mind body and soul. A holistic facial treatment if included will further enhance this treatment by offering an improved and rejuvenated and refreshed skin condition.

What does a Hot Stone treatment involve?

An initial consultation is undertaken to determine your specific needs and ensure the appropriate treatment is being offered. If a facial is included assessment of your skin type and preparation of appropriate skin products is also made. You will lie down on a couch and be fully covered with towels as a full treatment incorporates a full body massage.

A full body massage is given utilising both hand massage techniques and including the application of hot and cold stones to deepen and intensify the massage including the placement of stones on various points of the body.

If a facial is included the skin is initially removed of any make-up. The skin is then cleansed and exfoliated. A nourishing facial mask is then applied to the skin and left for 10-15 minutes during which time a relaxing neck and shoulder massage is given. A toner is then applied to skin with cold stones to tone and refresh the skin and to awaken you from a truly indulgent and relaxing massage treatment.
